Our Community Ambassadors will

  • Use their local knowledge and the skills learned on our training and development. programme, to guide and signpost young people and their families to suitable advice and support services.
  • Support young local people to understand the risks of becoming involved in youth violence and encouraging them to make the right decisions to keep them safe and on track to achieve their full potential.
  • Help local communities understand the key issues surrounding community and youth safety. To help families spot signs and to be prepared to tackle the problem. Particularly if members of their family or friends are knowingly or inadvertently becoming involved in activities which increase the risk of them becoming the victim of youth violence, for example, knife carrying or becoming involved in drug dealing markets.
  • Positively promote the Connect 2 Service and other violence prevention services offered in West Sussex.
  • Deal sympathetically and appropriately with any disclosures made by people who contact you needing help.

Apply to become an Ambassador

We are looking to engage committed volunteers who are:

  • Passionate about youth safety and providing better opportunities for young people.
  • Reflect the communities in West Sussex.
  • Have strong reach or influence with young people in their local community
  • Are eager to help shape young lives.

There is no specific time commitment for the volunteer role but you will need to complete our training program and be available for a minimum of 4 hours per month to support the project.
